Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for generators exporting onto the distribution system, overseeing interconnection activities throughout the engineering and construction process.
  • Review Planning and Reliability studies to assist in designing interconnection estimates.
  • Produce engineering calculations using SOCKET for items such as fault current, loading, and pole height.
  • Provide assistance during project design and construction for interconnection-related issues.
  • Produce a construction estimate using JETS and develop a construction print using GIS or related products.
  • Work with the GPC environmental team to identify issues affecting optimal interconnection solutions.
  • Coordinate with generators to ensure proper interconnection to the GPC distribution system.
  • Ensure engineering of new projects complies with GPC Power Delivery standards.
  • Administer DG program documents and legal contracts related to interconnection studies, construction, and operation of generation projects in partnership with the DG Project Management team.
  • Assist region Power Delivery personnel in scheduling jobs for construction.
  • Assist with operating devices during Witness Tests as needed.
  • Record all design, construction, and testing documentation to ensure compliance with DG programs.
  • Attend out-of-town project site meetings and occasional industry conferences/meetings as required.
  • Support after-hours storm restoration efforts as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred or a 2-year accredited Technical Degree or EUT Certificate or Power Delivery related experience with a utility company.
  • Strong technical engineering experience and knowledge of electrical system operations and distribution systems.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite, JETS, DistView, Designer/GIS, CSS, Socket, ARMS, TCMS Web, NJUNS, EDEN, and DisIntel.
  • Knowledge of Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook/Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, and Consistency Manual preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent project management skills that lead to desired results.
  • Ability to work with customers and others as a team member.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good attitude and ability to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • Working knowledge of NESC.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
