About the position

General Mills, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Sanitation Technician to join our manufacturing group. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our production and warehouse facilities, ensuring that we meet the highest standards of food safety and quality. As a Sanitation Technician, you will be responsible for cleaning up after production shifts, which includes breaking down production equipment, scrubbing, scraping, washing, and sanitizing to achieve perfect sanitary conditions. This position is not just about cleaning; it involves actively participating in the startup, changeover, and shutdown of operating equipment, making it a vital part of our production process. In this role, you will engage in daily tasks that include cleaning and sanitizing various areas of the facility, using appropriate cleaning solutions and hand tools. You will also be responsible for completing daily paperwork accurately and complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), personal hygiene standards, and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC) protocols. The working environment will vary, as you will be required to work in all weather conditions and assist in training new employees. Flexibility is key, as you may be assigned to different areas of the plant and will need to perform various general production responsibilities as required. Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production and warehouse facilities after production shifts.
  • Assist with breaking down production equipment for cleaning.
  • Scrub, scrape, wash, and sanitize equipment to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and comply with GMP and safety programs.
  • Work on man lifts up to 30 feet in the air and crawl under equipment as needed.
  • Clean facility grounds, including ditches and trash bin areas.
  • Train new employees on sanitation procedures and practices.
  • Perform various general production responsibilities as assigned, including bagging, stacking, and inspecting products.
  • Operate all equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain control of all equipment and tools during production shutdowns.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school education or GED.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years sanitation experience.
  • Experience working with chemicals in a sanitation context.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
