Responsibilities

  • Process applications for tag, title, registration, transfers/renewals, personalized plates, and stolen/lost plates for various vehicles.
  • Provide direct assistance to the public in person, by mail, or over the telephone regarding license plates, titles, and sales tax collection.
  • Enter data with speed and accuracy into the system.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and run required reports.
  • Work with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NC DMV) to resolve vehicle title issues.
  • Exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with taxpayers and the public.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with coursework in accounting, business management, or a related field.
  • Experience involving public contact and payment processing, preferably in motor vehicle registrations.
  • Ability to obtain Notary Public Certification during the probationary period.
  • Ability to complete required compliance training.

Nice-to-haves

  • License plate agency experience, including knowledge of methods and procedures used to process forms and receive funds.
  • Knowledge of State Motor Vehicle titling and licensing procedures and practices.
