The City of Valdez Small Boat Harbor is accepting applications for temporary Harbor Office Staff to work the 2025 summer season. Under supervision of regular harbor staff, the Harbor Office Staff Member is providing customer service and is responsible for the selling and scheduling of Harbor services, processing payments, along with cash handling, answers phones and responds to public inquiries. Experience in boat harbors with boat handling skills is desirable.

This position may be scheduled to work evenings and weekends. Positions are open until filled, review of applicants begins March 25, 2025
Primary Responsibilities: Ability to walk the boat docks, tracking vessels and reading electrical meters in all weather conditions. Requires clerical experience and knowledge of office functions. Requires attention to detail necessary for accurately completing forms.
Requires organizational skills to handle customer accounts, billing and invoices. Requires computer familiarity to retrieve necessary customer and vessel information. Ability to use office equipment properly and safely.
Requires good interpersonal skills. Requires the ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations and to contact appropriate persons as needed. Ability to work independently but also requires ability to work cooperatively with others; ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Requires willingness to perform various job-related duties, and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; ability to lift up to 25lbs and walk and stand for long periods of time Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Must have HS Diploma or GED. Work is performed predominately in an office setting, however there are some tasks that are performed outside in inclement weather.
Must be able to walk, stand, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, and/or crawl. Noise level is moderate.
