Diploma Connect-Teacher ID-14275

About the position

Project for Pride in Living, Inc. (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income individuals to achieve self-reliance through integrated services. The Diploma Connect Teacher position is a vital role within PPL's Diploma Connect program, which assists participants in meeting the Minnesota Standard Adult High School Diploma requirements. This program specifically targets individuals aged 19 and older who have not graduated from high school and prefer to earn a diploma rather than a GED. The teacher will work closely with the PPL Career Readiness department to provide access to job placements, career pathways, paid training, financial literacy, and apprenticeships for young adults. The ideal candidate will be an educator who is deeply rooted in the community and responsive to student voices, ensuring that participants are engaged in their educational journey. The role requires the ability to teach various subjects, including middle school and high school math, social studies, science, language arts, and career readiness. The teacher will need to demonstrate patience and creativity, particularly with learners returning to education after significant absences. Additionally, the position involves planning curriculum that addresses social issues such as privilege, race, class, gender, and sexuality, while maintaining clear communication and appropriate boundaries with participants. Collaboration is key in this role, as the teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher and other internal teams to develop and implement program structures, policies, and academic activities that recognize participants' achievements. The teacher will also maintain data across multiple systems and provide narratives to inform grant applications and funding. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
